Post made in partnership with Luxe Apothetique Boutique (Austin, TX); all opinions/statements are my own.
There are no rules against hitting the town with your girl friends not only on any given Thursday or Friday night but especially so on Valentine’s Day! Your trusted gal pals have stood by you for as long as you can remember, and they know you almost as well as your mama. I want today’s post to be an inspiration to plan the best primping sesh ever before a big night out!
STEP 1: THE PREP
To really get the most out of your primping session with your girls, start about 2.5 hours before you need to be heading out. This will give you the time to apply a face mask and draw out impurities or put on this fun Baby Foot exfoliation and moisturization treatment for your feet. You’re most likely going to be wearing heels for the night and those feet of yours need to be prepared! After applying masks, maybe factor in a quick facelift for your brows and applying a layer of moisturizer before you put on a full face of makeup. I recommend to also reach for this Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Primer oil to protect your hair from getting any heat damage.
STEP 2: THE BEAUTIFICATION
And here comes my personal favorite part of getting ready for a night out: the makeup. I’ll start thinking of my look at the beginning of the day because I just get so excited. I don’t normally wear eyeshadow very often during the week, so it’s always fun when circumstances call for it. This is also the fun part because I love to do my friends’ makeup!
A family friend gave me this gorgeous Marc Jacobs Object of Desire eyeshadow palette for Christmas, and it is incredible. The shadows are strong in their pigment and can make very natural, everyday looks or more subdued smoky eye looks. For this look, I’d go for a more copper tone on the lid with some plum in the crease to make the look a bit more naturally seductive. And, of course, top everything off with a true red lipstick.
For some reason, I can’t imagine a V-day look without curled hair! And there’s no way I’d do my curls any other way than with my T3 whirl trio iron (also love this iron for under $35). Once I finish my curls, I finger through them to loosen them, but I think adding in a texturizing spray can add hold to a looser wave to last the night!
How perfect is this romper (c/o Luxe Apothetique) for a Valentine’s look? Or even a spring event or date party, my college gals. It’s elegant, classic with the ruffles, but it’s still got that sexy edge that’ll have you feelin’ yourself on your big night out. Maintain the neutral palette with some nude stilettos and a decadent metallic clutch, and your moment has arrived!
